About Michigan Court Watch
Michigan Court Watch is an independent project dedicated to documenting and analyzing Michigan appellate court decisions. We focus on judicial accountability, procedural consistency, and systemic patterns in how Michigan courts handle civil disputes.
Our Mission
The Michigan court system processes thousands of appellate decisions each year. Many of these decisions carry significant implications for businesses, individuals, and the legal profession — yet they receive little or no media attention. We believe that informed public awareness of how courts operate strengthens the justice system.
What We Cover
- Michigan Court of Appeals published and unpublished opinions
- Michigan Supreme Court orders, including MCR 7.305 remands and applications for leave
- Default judgment practice and procedural fairness
- COVID-era contract disputes and their appellate treatment
- Patterns of inconsistent outcomes between different appellate panels
- Cases where trial court errors are identified and corrected on appeal
Our Approach
Every article published on Michigan Court Watch is sourced directly from public court records, published opinions, and official filings. We quote verbatim from court documents and cite specific pages and provisions. We do not editorialize beyond what the court record supports.
We are not affiliated with any party, law firm, or political organization. Our analysis is intended to serve legal practitioners, court watchers, journalists, and members of the public who want to understand how Michigan's appellate courts work.
